Object Relations Consultation Seminar - Second Semester
For practitioners interested in honing their skills in the theory and technique of Object Relations Psychotherapy. This course will combine guided readings with clinical consultations provided by the seminar’s two faculty, James Poulton, PhD and Stephen Morris, PhD. Each class meeting will have two segments: discussion of theoretical/technical implications of the readings; and a case presentation, provided by one of the course participants, followed by consultation and class discussion. Participants will learn about specific topics in the Object Relations approach to psychotherapy, including projective and introjective identification, the dynamics of sexuality, working with attachment patterns, levels of interpretation, transformative interpretations, the inevitability of countertransference, the self-disclosure of countertransference, and the therapist’s tolerance for being a bad object.
